Culligan Water

The Culligan Man came to Central Ontario in 1949 when Peter Fobert began operation of our local dealership in an old dairy building in Barrie, Ontario. At the time, Mr. Fobert invested in a 1949 Mercury pickup truck (like this) so he could deliver Culligan's Soft Water Service to his customers in Simcoe County and York Region.

In addition to a great product and service, yellow page advertising (like this 1951 ad) helped the business flourish. In 1970, retirement called and he sold the dealership to it's current owner, Ralph Clayton.

Ralph Clayton began his career in 1959 as the owner of his own plumbing business just outside Hanover, Ontario. He saw and heard the commercials for Culligan water softeners which sparked his interest. "I decided to search them out" he remembers and was so impressed with the products and services, he added them to his plumbing business.

In 1964, he became the manager of the manufacturing plant for Culligan of Canada Ltd. He stayed on until 1970 when the franchise in Central Ontario became available and moved his family and expertise to Barrie.
Today our business has grown to a full service dealership and is one of the largest in Canada servicing Muskoka, Simcoe County, York Region and Durham Region. The company remains a family business with the second and third generation taking part in the daily operations.

We provide equipment and services for residential, commercial and industrial needs for water treatment of all description as well as the supply of bottled water. Our offices are staffed with experienced and factory trained service technicians responding to the needs of our broad client base.

Since 1996, our water has been bottled at the source at our bottling facility in Northern Ontario. We provide natural spring and reverse osmosis water in various sizes to homes, offices, industrial and retail locations. As we approach our 60th year in Central Ontario, we look forward to providing quality water and services that you and your family deserve now and in the future.
